Teams from CSU Fort Collin, Metra State, CC, CSU?, AFA, and UCCS, 45 students.
Five 16 teams are set up. most have 3 team members.
Each team are asked to evaluate (penetration testing) a Front Range Voting Machine (FRVM) system in a designated subnet 192.168.1xx.0/24.
Details about the system Evaluatoin:
FRVM built a voting system using a web interface. It is intended to tally votes for political elections. That is, one person - one vote! There is a web front-end and a MySQL back-end.
You have been hired to perform a complete system evaluation. You must evaluate the ENTIRE voting system/process. Thjis includes all hardware, software, policies and processes of the voting system.
Your deliverable is a report of your findings about actual vulnerabilities and recommended solutions.
Your teams will given 100 tokens which represent individuals that are registered voters.
One Internet connection (laptop to search Internet for info but not for downloading additinal program).
One machine set up with Backtrack for scanning and penetration testing on the subnet.
Team are allowed to ask hints but will be subtracted with 10-5pts for each hint.
