IUPUI Network Security Certificate Program To Provide Specialized IT Training

INDIANAPOLIS- As computer technology drives the way companies do business, there is a greater demand for skilled information technology professionals with an information assurance and security education background.

To meet the demand, the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI will begin to offer a network security certificate this fall.

The certificate program, which could be completed within three semesters, will provide hands-on training on how to safeguard the information systems infrastructure of companies.

“The Network Security Certificate will offer computer network and systems professionals an opportunity to enhance their skill-set quickly, so they may in turn protect the information systems of their employer more efficiently,” said Connie Justice, Department of Computer and Information Technology at IUPUI. “Likewise, the program can broaden job opportunities for individuals in a variety of capacities, including network security engineer, IT network security administrator and network security technologist, to name a few.”

The program consists of six courses, including communications security and network controls, digital forensics, applied secure protocols and advanced network administration. The certificate credits can also be applied toward a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology.
