Parallel Hardware Accelerator System

Main Thrust:

Explore how to achieve better performance and reliable network systems using hardware accelerator such as SSL accelerator and traffic manager.
Identify the critical/common tasks in network system
Investigate efficient interface/integration techniques and API for system with parallel processing components.

Benchmark basic system configurations using CEA7110 e-Commerce Accelerators and CEA7280 XML Directors. Compare with those of our Secure Content Switch systems.

Explore the use of multiple accelerators and directors for high avaialble web systems.
Analyze the critical tasks in such advanced web systems and investigate how they can be parallized and efficiently integrate.
Develop a set of efficient API/protocol for facilitating the integration of network components.
Investigate the use IXP network processors with those API for constructing advanced Internet systems including advanced web cluster and SAN.

This project will also use a Dell server and rack system donated by Intel for supporting the research and teaching of UCCS Computer Science department.
We are configuring them in our network lab now and will be used in exercises of CS526 Advanced Web Systems and Internet, and CS522 Computer Communications. Students will be greatly benefited from such hand-on exercises. Some graduate students will be used these equipment in their parallel secure content switch and other network related research projects.
