This is UCCS Network Research Lab.
The UCCS Network Research Lab is in ENS143 of the Engineering and Applied Science Building.
It is used for network and protocol related research and teaching.
Description:
-
First you will see the door leading to ENS149 Software Engineering Lab.
-
Then you see two Intel 7110 SSL accelerators and two 7280 XML Directors right by the door to ENS149
Software Engineering Lab. The 7110s and 7280s were used in our CS526 advanced Internet and
web system lab exercises and the content switching research projects.
-
To the left, you see the Cisco Aironet 1200 dual band (802.11a/b) Access Point on top of a
Dell GX240 workstation called viper (for virus security research)
with one of the antenna interface connected to Zeewave flexible antenna prototype.
- Next you see a rack housing HP 4000 switch, HP 100VG/Any LAN, Intel Ix12EB, and a
Dell 2450 Server.
- The rack is followed by 4 Dell GX150 workstations and the new Intel donated
350 workstation with 19" LCD monitor, which is being configured
as a Linux router to run BGP/MPLS based Virtual Private Network (VPN). It will be used in our Spring 2003
CS691 Advanced System Security Design class. The 350 workstation is called ardor
and will also be used
in our multipath routing and secure collective defense research projects.
- Right beneath the 350 workstation is the Autonomous Anti-DDoS (A2D2) network security testbed
with 7 HP machines connected by Ethernet/KVM switches.
The three HP vectra8 machines on the left forms the defense network running the Linux Snort intrusion detection system (IDS) and firewall with Rate Limiting/CBQ. The four old HP kayaks on the right constitutes the DDoS attack network.
- Paul Fong is taking out the Cisco wireless PCI card from the vinci workstation for AODV protocol testing.
Acknowledgment
The following list of equipment is donated by two of our sponsors, Intel and CCL.
-
Intel has donated one Dell Server, one Dell 350 workstation, Sonicwall pro 350 firewall,
8 Intel 7110 SSL accelerators,
4 Intel 7280 XML director (content switch), UPS, and Gigabit Ethernet Adapters.
-
CCL has sponsored our content switch project, enabled us to purchase the Dell server,
HP4000 switch with the gigabit fiber interface
to the UCCS backbone network, the Intel IXP12EB network processor evaluation board, and
the Dell workstations.
The 360 panorama picture is created by cutting and pasting a long strip of pictures
taken with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P5 and is displayed by a Java applet called
Spin360.class, which is provided free by
http://www.vivaorange.com/Spin360/.
Note that you can actually use the mouse to rotate much faster by pointing away
the center of the picture and to move up and down.
